Audrey P.Audrey has been with Lyne Animal Hospitals since before we were even Lyne Animal Hospitals and were just Chesterfield Veterinary Clinic. She was our first employee (1982) and she and her husband, Charlie, are part of our family. She started as a Receptionist for the original Dr. H.O. Lyne doing everything from answering the phone to cleaning kennels. Next she became an Office Manager of one of our hospitals and now is a key part of the administration team for both Lyne Animal Hospitals.

Lyne Animal Hospitals is seeking VETERINARIANS (PT and FT) to keep up with our growth. Join our thriving, multi-doctor practices (2) located in Chester and Midlothian, Virginia (just south of Richmond). Exp Veterinarians earn $85K base plus the first year. Externship Opportunities

Our Extern Mentoring plan was developed for a 2 week (5 days/week) rotation.

Hours: 7:45am - 6:00pm with an hour and a half for lunch and to review cases and observe and assist with callbacks before afternoon appointments start. Your first day will start with an Extern Orientation and Expectation discussion and tour before meeting the staff and seeing cases.

It is important before you begin your Externship with LAH that you understand our “Why” as well as our Core Values.

Dress Code:

For men beige khakis, dress shirt and tie with a White Lab Coat; For women beige khakis, blouse with a White Lab Coat. At all times clothing is to be clean and neatly pressed. 

All employees are expected to appear clean, neatly pressed, safe, and appropriate in keeping with the professional dignity of Lyne Enterprises. For reasons of professional appearance and safety, no facial jewelry (this includes eyebrows, nose, chin, cheek, lips, and tongue) should be worn during working time. Tattoos (or other body art of any type) are accepted as long they are not offensive, vulgar, or do not include profanity. In keeping with OSHA requirements, all staff is prohibited from wearing sandals or other open-toed, open-heeled shoes for safety purposes.  All staff is required to wear non-skid or skid-resistant leather tennis shoes.

Hair must be neat, dry, and clean, and styled in a manner that is business-like. Extreme hairstyles are not permitted; color must be a natural hair color – no purples, blues, etc.

Mustaches and beards must be reasonably trimmed.

You will be given a book to read while they are here: The Servant.  We feel like this book offers a valuable perspective of how we should think of our selves in the workplace and those that we serve.

It is important before seeing cases that you are familiar with the services that Lyne Animal Hospitals and West Chester Pet Resort offer, please take time to read our Services information and be ready to discuss them if needed

You will work with Dr. Lyne 3 days/week and with another Associate the other 2

We would like you to participate in 1 Leadership meeting while you are with us so you can get a sense of how we handle issues, resolve problems and plan for the future.

It's important that you get as much real life experience as possible while with us so we will be scheduling the following procedures for you to perform:

  • 1 feline neuter
  • 1 feline spay
  • 1 canine neuter
  • 1 canine spay
  • 1 mass removal or oral surgery procedure
  • If possible, a TTA

You will shadow Doctor’s schedule - and assist with Exams, discussing cases, treatment plans and how to handle client communication/engaging client in services. After shadowing, you will take the lead in cases and review with the Doctor your evaluation, work-up the patient case, review plan with the client and staff and assist in implementation of Treatment Plan. You will see 20 - 25 cases per day during your rotation. 

You will meet with Dr. Lyne and discuss procedures and what improvements would be valuable for your continued growth twice a week. At the end of your rotation, you will have an Exit Interview to help Lyne Animal Hospitals improve it’s Mentoring/Extern experience for future Externs
